Posted 19.01.21

BBC Studios has appointed Wilderness to promote its various channels in South Africa following the agencies successful community building across social for BBC First a pay-TV channel in the Netherlands and Belgium.

BBC Studios operates 4 channels in South Africa, BBC Brit, BBC Lifestyle, BBC Earth, and the CBeebies channel. Wilderness will support the broadcaster across the portfolio of channels but with a keen focus on BBC Brit and BBC Lifestyle.

The BBC Are looking to Wilderness to deliver a similarly engaged community for these channels across Instagram and Facebook as they have done with BBC First across Benelux. This will involve key brand-led campaign as well as promoting major show launches in the region.

This further boasts London and Amsterdam-based Wilderness in the region alongside their on-going work with NBC Universal across Africa supporting the pay-TV broadcaster on social across their Universal TV, E!, Studio Universal, and Telemundo channels.

The agency, which works across entertainment brands including HBO, Sky, Discovery Networks, Warner Bros and more, was appointed on an initial 3-month retainer with the option to extend throughout 2021.

Jamie Maple, Managing Director, Wilderness, added:

“Being able to promote great TV to passionate fans is a brief that any agency would relish. British TV has a reputation for quality, and we want to not only show people the breadth of what’s available but be right there with them as they discover new and addictive shows.

The opportunity to extend our relationship with BBC Studios beyond the Netherlands and Belgium is a great challenge for us and this further extends our expertise in South Africa. With this win, we continue to be a trusted long-term partner for some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry”
